The Greater Atlanta Chapter of USA Dance hosted the Southeastern Regional Championship (SRC)  October 19th and 20th at the World Congress Center in Atlanta. The SRC is the longest continuously running DanceSport competition in the country, presented year after year by the volunteer efforts of our chapter. Its tradition of excellence and innovation was on full display over the two-day event, which began on Friday starting at 8:30 am and ran until midnight on Friday and started Saturday with another full day of competition that finished at 6:00pm on Saturday. Every Region in the nation was represented with about 200 couples from 35 states.

During the banquet session, honor was given to the Organizer, Ann Smith, who has spearheaded sixteen of the nineteen events held in Atlanta. Flowers from the National USADance were presented as well as a plaque from the Greater Atlanta USADance denoting her years of dedication to the SRC Following the Banquet, everyone moved into the ballroom where honors still befell the five-foot blond ball of dynamite. There was a Snow-ball dance in which about twenty competitors, officials and volunteers vied for "just one dance with Annie." The crowd roared and applauded as she made her appearance in the ballroom. Afterwards, the dancers and spectators got to enjoy general dancing in the ballroom.

The Adult session of the championship was reserved to the evening session, right after the banquet.

First place in the Latin went to Panaylotis Thomakos and Christine Kam from Pennsylvania. First place in Standard went to Balazs and Csilla Koscl from Kenrucky. first place in Rhythm went to Andrew Kerski and Ginarose Mc Leese from Connecticut. First place in the Smooth went to Nels Peterson and Theresa Kilmer from Minnesota. We congratulate all the dancers who competed in the competition.
